"Like a G6" - The Cataracs

Updated: Feb 17, 2023

This song was inspired by the line "Sippin' sizzurp in my ride, like Three 6", a reference to the 2000 song "Sippin' on Some Syrup" by rap group Three 6 Mafia. Coming up with a rhyme, the original lyrics went “like a G4”, before the writers Niles “KSHMR” Hollowell-Dhar and David Singer-Vine changed it to “like a G6”. The signature bassline in this song was also an accident, as the MIDI file went corrupt when importing into the music software. As KSHMR later described this, it was a happy accident and they kept the bassline from the corrupt file, and the song proceeded to become a #1 Billboard hit.
